Advancing Whole-Person, Prevention-Oriented Care in North Carolina Medicaid: Evidence and Opportunities

North Carolina Medicaid’s Section 1115 waiver enables the state to test innovative approaches for improving health outcomes while reducing long-term costs. With federal waiver authority in place through December 2029, North Carolina has an opportunity to leverage federal funding to continue to pilot, evaluate, refine, and scale models that strengthen both health for North Carolinians and fiscal sustainability.
