Addressing chronic drug shortages requires a coordinated, multi-faceted effort across the public and private sectors. The Duke-Margolis ReVAMP Drug Supply Chain Consortium has worked since 2023 to identify effective policy solutions that can reduce the frequency and severity of drug shortages, including identifying how to cohesively fit together various policy steps for maximum impact. The Framework below synthesizes numerous Consortium publications into a comprehensive set of six priority areas outlining how the federal government can address chronic drug shortages.
