Health, Health Care, and Health Policy-Related Courses
Health policy is an inherently interdisciplinary field of study. Addressing complex health and health care challenges effectively requires analyzing and developing policy solutions from multiple viewpoints and fields of expertise, including public policy, business, medicine, nursing, economics, global health, law, ethics, population health sciences, engineering, political science, psychology, and many other disciplines.
In its efforts to educate and train the next generation of health policy leaders, Duke-Margolis encourages students to pursue an interdisciplinary health policy curriculum. In support of this aim, the Institute developed and oversees a health policy course code at Duke (HLTHPOL), which we employ to designate courses designed and lead by Duke-Margolis and/or affiliated with our interdisciplinary education programs (e.g., Bass Connections Health Policy & Innovation Theme, Undergraduate Certificate in Health Policy). In addition, our core and affiliated faculty across campus teach a range of health, health care, and health policy-related courses, which we encourage students interested in health policy to explore.
