Daniel Feingold (DC Office)

He is finishing his Masters in Bioethics and Science Policy. He is working with Liz Richardson supporting a project on the harmonization of expedited regulatory programs for drugs. He is also working with Rob Saunders on a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation project on issue briefs on payment and state coverage policies. He will be with the team in DC until the end of July.

Grant McHorse (DC Office)

Grant is interning with the Washington, DC office as a part of the Duke Engage program. He is starting his a senior year and majoring in Public Policy with a minor in Chemistry. He is working with Katie Greene on the opioids projects by researching FDA regulatory activities to address the opioid crisis as well as programs and policies in North Carolina.

Yuna Kim (Durham Office)

Yuna is a rising senior at Duke University majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Global Health and Visual Media Studies. She plans to pursue a career in Hospital Administration upon graduation. Yuna is working with Professor Don Taylor and Andrew Olson on various projects revolving around Medicaid and Medicare Reform. She is working on a series of issue briefs that will propose questions and solutions to the current and future state of healthcare in North Carolina, especially in regards to Medicaid expansion. She is also working with the Carolinas Centers in reproducing a new report that will record the 2016 North and South Carolina Hospice Data and Trends.

Megan Moore (Durham Office)

Megan is a rising senior at Duke, majoring in Public Policy and pre-med. She is working with Peter Ubel and Charlene Wong on a review of literature on physician payment reform, such as the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), and a corresponding written piece about what payment reform will mean for pediatricians. She is also working on a qualitative study interviewing Navigators of Healthcare Exchanges to determine trends in how healthcare plan enrollees use healthcare shopping websites and how the formats of these websites may influence consumer's decisions. Finally, she is working on a project that aims to identify how technology, such as social media, smartphone apps, and wearable technologies, can be used to encourage preventive health behavior in adolescents and young adults.

Rishi Sachdev (Durham Office)

Rishi is a rising senior at Duke majoring in Economics, and plans to attend medical school after graduation. He is working on a research team led by medical oncologist Dr. Yousuf Zafar to explore financial toxicity, or the patient-level impact of the cost of cancer care, by looking at US insurance claims data. He is using his economics background to better understand the way medical costs are distributed throughout the health care industry, and to investigate the harmful financial burden that ends up being borne by patients during the course of their care.

Phillip Wong (Durham Office)

Phillip is a rising sophmore at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, where he is majoring in psychology.  This summer, he is working with Dr. Peter Ubel's team on a variety of projects.
