Alexandra Wynn is a second year doctoral student in the health psychology program at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Alexandra graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2019 with her Bachelor of Science in health science and dual minors in sociology and psychology. Her research specializes around identifying psychological, social, and systemic factors within health disparities that impedes the utilization and engagement of preventive services among Black emerging adults. At VCU, Alexandra is a graduate research assistant in the Promoting Equitable Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Sexual Health Outcomes (PROGRESS) lab, where she works with other graduate and undergraduate research assistants to produce research to address and eliminate health disparities within marginalized populations. Furthermore, she is a member of the Professional Development Committee where the committee creates inclusive programming to provide a community for extra-curricular learning, service, and development. Alexandra is also a member of the Health Brigade Emerging Leaders Council in Richmond which supports Health Brigade’s mission of delivering inclusive and welcoming services to the least serviced through community engagement, outreach, and advocacy. This summer, Alexandra worked with North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids.
