Amy Labrador is a rising sophomore at Duke University from Miami, FL who is intending to major in Global Health and Psychology. At Duke, she is involved in the Student Collaborative on Health Policy (SCOHP), where she collaborates with her peers to engage with the Durham community and advocate for patient resources. She is also on The Scope podcast team where she interviews Duke faculty and records episodes in hopes of educating the Duke student body on health-policy related matters. Amy is a Huang Fellow at Duke and through this fellowship, she engages with issues at the intersection of science, policy, and ethics. As a Latinx student, Amy is interested in exploring cultural and language barriers to patient-centered care and aims to work on healthcare transformation in racial and ethnic minorities. This summer, through the Huang Fellows Program, she is working to address social drivers of health for young children and families in the clinical setting, specifically focusing on immigrant and refugee families.
