Amy Labrador

Amy Labrador is a rising junior at Duke University from Miami, FL who is majoring in Global Health and Biology. At Duke, she is involved in the Student Collaborative on Health Policy (SCOHP), where she works to increase campus-wide opportunities in health policy. She also engages with patients from Durham's Lincoln Community Health Center through her role as a community resource navigator at Help Desk. This past school year, she was involved in a Bass Connections team centered around bridging the health equity gap and addressing vaccine hesitancy in Durham. Amy is interested in addressing social drivers of health for young children and families in the clinical setting and aims to work on healthcare transformation in racial and ethnic minorities. In the past, she has delved into the uptake of disadvantage indices during the COVID-19 pandemic and analyzed their values in predicting place-based social risk. This upcoming summer, Amy will continue to engage with community-based organizations and healthcare stakeholders to propose a community-driven mobile outreach intervention that addresses health and social needs for families with young children.
