Degree

Class of 2025

Kunmi is a sophomore potentially majoring in Economics and plan to be on the pre-medicine track. Her interests encompass the intersection of health economics and policy to address health inequities facing people of color. Despite the current cultural reckoning of the faults within American institutions, the vast health disparities (including health outcomes and access to affordable healthcare) within marginalized communities remain largely ignored. Therefore, Kunmi dedicated to acquiring knowledge about the current healthcare system and the means of improving it. As a future physician with expertise in health economics, she hopes to contribute to the conversation and implementation of value-based healthcare: a reformed healthcare model that prioritizes patient health outcomes over existing financial incentives within the current system. This summer, through the Huang Fellows program, Kunmi worked with Dr. Bundorf from Sanford School of Public Policy.
