Fariha is a MS population health sciences student at Duke University. She graduated with a BS in health policy and management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021. During her undergraduate studies, she also served as a birth doula at UNC Hospitals and partook in perinatal mood disorders’ research. These experiences, notably working with new mothers from diverse backgrounds, inspired her interest in maternal health equity and health policy. She is a firm believer that effective policy changes can address the social and structural determinants underlying maternal health disparities. As an aspiring physician scientist, she plans to intersect her clinical experience, research, and passion for advocacy to drive systemic change that improves women’s health through policy.
