Lizzy Simmons
Lizzy Simmons is a second year doctoral student in the Departments of Maternal and Child Health and Epidemiology at UNC Chapel Hill. At UNC, she works as a graduate research assistant where she examines factors that influence coverage of essential healthcare services and maternal and child health outcomes. Her research focuses on the influence of social factors on the childbirth process for American women. Her long term goal is to contribute to evidence-based policies that improve childbirth experiences and outcomes for women in the United States. This summer, Lizzy will be is working to assess racial disparities in maternal health outcomes for women in North Carolina.
