Maddie Brown, MD/MPP'25
Maddie is currently a 4th year dual MD/MPP student at Duke in the Primary Care Leadership Track. She spent this past summer interning at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, in Washington, DC. After graduating from the University of Richmond with a BS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology with minors in Healthcare Studies and Dance, she spent a year with the National Health Corps (AmeriCorps) as a Patient Navigator at a free clinic in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduation she plans to pursue a clinical residency that will allow her to practice community behavioral health: either categorical psychiatry, internal medicine-psychiatry, or family medicine-psychiatry. Her policy interests lie in behavioral health integration into clinical and social service settings, building systems for simpler collaboration, and Medicaid demonstrations for innovative service models.
