Olivia Kim, Class of 2026, is an undergraduate from Chicago, Illinois, majoring in biology and pursuing a health policy certificate. Her academic interests intersect life sciences with healthcare legislation, focusing on influencing frameworks that govern healthcare access and quality. Olivia's experience includes an internship at FamiliesUSA, where she explored Medicaid policies, particularly in whole person care strategies like gun violence intervention, and Managed Care Organization accountability laws. Previously, Olivia volunteered at the Durham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Duke Benefits Enrollment Center. As a Margolis Scholar, Olivia is dedicated to health policy initiatives that address health equity through Medicaid programs and services. She explores healthcare payment models to enhance equitable care access and aspires to integrate practicing medicine as a physician in the future with health policy and advocacy to foster inclusive healthcare systems.
