Katie is a Master of Public Policy student at Duke's Sanford School of Public Policy. Originally from the Detroit area, Katie graduated from the University of Michigan in 2015 with a BA in political science and French. Prior to starting at Duke, Katie worked at a local public health department in Colorado as part of the COVID-19 emergency response and as a substance use prevention and mitigation policy specialist. Her interests include sustainable public health fiscal policy and innovative policy solutions that consider the social determinants of health in addressing health inequities. As a Margolis Scholar, Katie is eager to collaborate with and learn from staff and peers who share her passion for health policy.
